ದ್ವಿಸಪ್ತತಿತಮಸ್ಸರ್ಗಃ

ತಮುಕ್ತವಂತಂ ವೈದೇಹಂ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರೋ ಮಹಾಮುನಿಃ |
ಉವಾಚ ವಚನಂ ವೀರಂ ವಸಿಷ್ಠಸಹಿತೋ ನೃಪಮ್ ||

ಸ||ಉಕ್ತವಂತಂ ವೈದೇಹಂ ವಸಿಷ್ಠಸಹಿತಂ ನೃಪಂ ತಂ ವೀರಂ ವಚನಂ ಮಹಾಮುನಿಃ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಃ ಉವಾಚ ||

Thus told by valiant king of Videha, the venerable sage Viswamitra along with sage Vasishta spoke as follows.

ಅಚಿಂತ್ಯಾನ್ಯಪ್ರಮೇಯಾನಿ ಕುಲಾನಿ ನರಪುಂಗವ |
ಇಕ್ಷ್ವಾಕೂಣಾಂ ವಿದೇಹಾನಾಂ ನೈಷಾಂ ತುಲ್ಯೋs ಸ್ತಿ ಕಶ್ಚನ ||
ಸದೃಶೋ ಧರ್ಮಸಂಬಂಧಃ ಸದೃಶೋ ರೂಪಸಂಪದಾ |
ರಾಮಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣಯೋ ರಾಜನ್ ಸೀತಾಚೋರ್ಮಿಳಯಾ ಸಹ ||
ವಕ್ತವ್ಯಂ ಚ ನರಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಶ್ರೂಯತಾಂ ವಚನಂ ಮಮ |
ಭ್ರಾತಾ ಯವೀಯಾನ್ ಧರ್ಮಜ್ಞ ಏಷ ರಾಜಾ ಕುಶಧ್ವಜಃ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ನರಪುಂಗವ ಇಕ್ಷ್ವಾಕೂಣಾಂ ವಿದೇಹಾನಾಂ ಕುಲಾನಿ ಅಚಿನ್ತ್ಯಾನಿ ಅಪ್ರಮೇಯಾನಿ | ಏಷಾಂ ಕಶ್ಚನ ನ ತುಲ್ಯಃ ಅಸ್ತಿ ||ರಾಜನ್! ರಾಮಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣಯೋಃ ಸೀತಾ ಚ ಉರ್ಮಿಳಾ ಸಹ ಸಂಬಂಧಃ ಧರ್ಮ ಸದೃಶಃ ರೂಪಸಂಪದಾ ಸದೃಶಃ || ಹೇ ನರಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ! ಮಮ ವಚನಂ ವಕ್ತವ್ಯಂ ಶ್ರೂಯತಾಂ | ಏಷ ರಾಜಾ ಭ್ರಾತಾ ಕುಶಧ್ವಜಃ ಯವೀಯಾನ್ ಧರ್ಮಜ್ಞಃ ||

"Oh King the lineages of Ikshvakus and the kings of Videha are eminent beyond measure and cannot be described. There is no one who can equal them. The match of Sita and Urmila with Rama and Lakshmana is perfect by cannons of Dharma and in looks . Oh Best of men please listen to what I have to say. Your brother Kusadhvaja is knower of Dharma."

ಅಸ್ಯ ಧರ್ಮಾತ್ಮನೋ ರಾಜನ್ ರೂಪೇಣಾ ಪ್ರತಿಮಂ ಭುವಿ |
ಸುತಾ ದ್ವಯಂ ನರಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಪತ್ನ್ಯರ್ಥಂ ವರಯಾಮಹೇ ||
ಭರತಸ್ಯ ಕುಮಾರಸ್ಯ ಶತೃಘ್ನಸ್ಯ ಚ ಧೀಮತಃ |
ವರಯಾಮ ಸ್ಸುತೇ ರಾಜನ್ ತಯೋರರ್ಥೇ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನೋಃ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ನರಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ! ರಾಜನ್ ಧರ್ಮಾತ್ಮನಃ ಅಸ್ಯ ಸುತಾ ದ್ವಯಂ ರೂಪೇಣ ಭುವಿ ಅಪ್ರತಿಮಂ ಧೀಮತಃ ಭರತಸ್ಯ ಶತೃಘ್ನಸ್ಯ ಕುಮಾರಸ್ಯ ಪತ್ನ್ಯರ್ಥಂ ವರಯಾಮಹೇ || ಹೇ ರಾಜನ್ ತಯೋಃ ಸುತೇ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಯೋಃ ಅರ್ಥೇ ವರಯಾಮಃ ||

" Oh King ! I pray that his two daughters who are of unrivalled beauty on this earth be given in marriage to the two ingenious sons Bharata and Satrughna. O King ! I am praying that your daughters be given to the great ones".

ಪುತ್ತ್ರಾ ದಶರಥಸ್ಯೇಮೇ ರೂಪಯೌವನಶಾಲಿನಃ |
ಲೋಕಪಾಲೋಪಮಾಸ್ಸರ್ವೇ ದೇವತುಲ್ಯ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಃ ||
ಉಭಯೋರಪಿ ರಾಜೇಂದ್ರ ಸಂಬಂಧೇನಾನುಬಧ್ಯತಾಮ್ |
ಇಕ್ಷ್ವಾಕೋಕುಲಮವ್ಯಗ್ರಂ ಭವತಃ ಪುಣ್ಯಕರ್ಮಣಃ ||

ಸ|| ದಶರಥಸ್ಯ ಇಮೇ ಪುತ್ತ್ರಾಃ ರೂಪಯೌವ್ವನಶಾಲಿನಃ | ಸರ್ವೇ ಲೋಕಪಾಲ ಉಪಮಾ:| ದೇವತುಲ್ಯ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಾಃ ||ಹೇ ರಾಜೇಂದ್ರ ! ಸಂಬಂಧೇನ ಇಕ್ಷ್ವಾಕುಕುಲಂ ಭವತಃ ಉಭಯೋಃ ಅಪಿ ಪುಣ್ಯಕರ್ಮಣಃ ಅನುಭಧ್ಯತಾಂ ||

These sons of Dasaratha are full with riches of form and youth. They equal the rulers of the world and match Devas in valor. Oh King ! With this alliance the Ikshwaku line as well as your who have done may auspicious deeds will prosper.

ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರವಚಃ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ವಸಿಷ್ಠಸ್ಯ ಮತೇ ತಥಾ |
ಜನಕಃ ಪ್ರಾಂಜಲಿ ರ್ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ಉವಾಚ ಮುನಿಪುಂಗವೌ ||

ಸ|| ವಸಿಷ್ಠಸ್ಯ ಮತೇ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರ ವಚಃ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಜನಕಃ ಮುನಿಪುಂಗವೌ ಪ್ರಾಂಜಲಿಃ ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ಉವಾಚ ||

Hearing those words of Viswamitra who also had the agreement of Vasishta, Janaka bowed to the two venerable sages and spoke as follows.

ಕುಲಂ ಧನ್ಯಮಿದಂ ಮನ್ಯೇ ಯೇಷಾಂ ನೋ ಮುನಿಪುಂಗವೌ |
ಸದೃಶಂ ಕುಲಸಂಭಂಧಂ ಯದಾಜ್ಞಾಪಯಥಃ ಸ್ವಯಮ್ ||
ಏವಂ ಭವತು ಭದ್ರಂ ವಃ ಕುಶಧ್ವಜಸುತೇ ಇಮೇ |
ಪತ್ನ್ಯೌ ಭಜೇತಾಂ ಸಹಿತೌ ಶತೃಘ್ನಭರತಾವುಭೌ ||
ಏಕಾಹ್ನಾ ರಾಜಪುತ್ರೀಣಾಂ ಚತಸೄಣಾಂ ಮಹಾಮುನೇ |
ಪಾಣೀನ್ ಗೃಹ್ಣಂತು ಚತ್ವಾರೋ ರಾಜಪುತ್ತ್ರಾ ಮಹಾಬಲಾಃ ||
ಉತ್ತರೇ ದಿವಸೇ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನ್ ಫಲ್ಗುನೀಭ್ಯಾಂ ಮನೀಷಿಣಃ|
ವೈವಾಹಿಕಂ ಪ್ರಶಂಸಂತಿ ಭಗೋ ಯತ್ರ ಪ್ರಜಾಪತಿಃ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ಮುನಿಪುಂಗವೌ ! ಯದಾ ಸ್ವಯಂ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಯಥಃ ಯೇಷಾಂ ಕುಲಸಂಬಂಧಂ ಸದೃಶಂ ಮನ್ಯೇ | ಇದಂ ಕುಲಂ ಧನ್ಯಂ ||ಭದ್ರಂ ವಃ ||ಕುಶಧ್ವಜ ಸುತೇ ಇಮೇ ಶತೃಘ್ನಭರತಾ ವುಭೌ ಪತ್ನ್ಯೌ ಸಹಿತೌ ಭಜೇತಾಂ | ಏವಂ ಭವತು || ರಾಜಪುತ್ರೀಣಾಂ ಚತಸೄಣಾಂ ಚತ್ವಾರೋ ರಾಜಪುತ್ತ್ರಾಃ ಏಕಾಹ್ನ ಪಾಣೀನ್ ಗೃಹ್ಣಂತು ||ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನ್ ! ಮನೀಷಿಣಃ ಉತ್ತರ ಫಲ್ಗುಣೀಭ್ಯಾಂ ಯತ್ರ ಪ್ರಜಾಪತಿಃ ಭಗಃ (ಅಸ್ತಿ ತತ್ ದಿನೇ ) ವೈವಾಹಿಕಂ ಪ್ರಶಂಸಂತಿ |

"Oh Best of Sages ! As this alliance is prescribed by you both I take it as the best . Our line is blessed. May you be blessed too. The two daughters of Kusadhvaja will be the wives of Bharata and Satrughna. The marriage ceremony of the four princesses with the four princes will happen on the same day. Oh Brahman ! When the Bhaga Prajapati is in Uttara Phalguni people consider that time as auspicious for marriage".

ಏವಮುಕ್ತ್ವಾ ವಚಸೌಮ್ಯಂ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ಥಾಯ ಕೃತಾಂಜಲಿಃ |
ಉಭೌ ಮುನಿವರೌ ರಾಜಾ ಜನಕೋ ವಾಕ್ಯಮಬ್ರವೀತ್ ||
ಪರೋ ಧರ್ಮಃ ಕೃತೋ ಮಹ್ಯಂ ಶಿಷ್ಯೋ sಸ್ಮಿ ಭವತೋಃ ಸದಾ |
ಇಮಾನ್ಯಾಸನಮುಖ್ಯಾನಿ ಆಸಾತಾಂ ಮುನಿಪುಂಗವೌ ||
ಯಥಾ ದಶರಥಸ್ಯೇಯಂ ತಥಾಯೋಧ್ಯಾಪುರೀಮಮ |
ಪ್ರಭುತ್ವೇ ನಾಸ್ತಿ ಸಂದೇಹೋ ಯಥಾರ್ಹಂ ಕರ್ತುಮರ್ಹಥ ||

ಸ|| ಸೌಮ್ಯಂ ವಚಃ ಏವಂ ಉಕ್ತ್ವಾ ಕೃತಾಂಜಲಿಃ ಉಭೌ ಮುನಿವರೌ ಪ್ರತಿ ಉದ್ಧಾಯ ಜನಕಃ ವಾಕ್ಯಮ ಅಬ್ರವೀತ್ ||ಹೇ ಮುನಿಪುಂಗವೌ ! ಮಹ್ಯಂ ಪರೋಧರ್ಮಃ ಕೃತಃ | ಸದಾ ಭವತೋಃ ಶಿಷ್ಯೋ ಅಸ್ಮಿ | ಇಮಾಂ ಮುಖ್ಯಾನಿ ಆಸನಾನಿ ಆಸತಾಂ || ಯಥಾ ದಶರಥಸ್ಯ ಅಯೋಧ್ಯಾಪುರೀ ತಥಾ ಇಯಂ| ಮಮ ಪ್ರಭುತ್ವೇ ಸಂದೇಹಂ ನ ಅಸ್ತಿ | ಯಥಾರ್ಹಂ ಕರ್ತುಮರ್ಹಥ ||

King having said these words in the most pleasing manner to the two sages, spoke again with folded hands as follows. "Oh Best of sages ! You have done me a favor. I will forever be your follower. Please take these important seats. You may treat the city of Mithila like Ayodhya. Have no doubt , Our government will implement what ever you say".

ತಥಾ ಬ್ರುವತಿ ವೈದೇಹೇ ಜನಕೇ ರಘುನಂದನಃ |
ರಾಜಾ ದಶರಥೋ ಹೃಷ್ಟಃ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುವಾಚ ಮಹೀಪತಿಮ್ ||

ಸ|| ತಥಾ ವೈದೇಹೇ ಬ್ರುವತಿ ರಘುನಂದನಃ ರಾಜಾ ದಶರಥಃ ಹೃಷ್ಠಃ ಮಹೀಪತಿಂ ಜನಕೇ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುವಾಚ||

When the king of Videha spoke thus the delighted king Dasaratha, the scion of Raghu replied to King Janaka as follows.

ಯುವಾಮಸಂಖ್ಯೇಯಗುಣೌ ಭ್ರಾತರೌ ಮಿಥಿಲೇಶ್ವರೌ |
ಋಷಯೋ ರಾಜಸಂಘಾಶ್ಚ ಭವದ್ಬ್ಯಾಮಭಿಪೂಜಿತಾಃ ||
ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ನುಹಿ ಭದ್ರಂ ತೇ ಗಮಿಷ್ಯಾಮಿ ಸ್ವಮಾಲಯಂ |
ಶ್ರಾದ್ಧಕರ್ಮಾಣಿ ಸರ್ವಾಣಿ ವಿಧಾಸ್ಯಾಮೀತಿ ಚಾಬ್ರವೀತ್ ||

ಸ|| ಭ್ರಾತರೌ ಮಿಥಿಲೇಶ್ವರೌ ಯುವಾಂ ಅಸಂಖ್ಯೇಯ ಗುಣೌ ( ಅಸ್ತಿ) | ಋಷಯೋಃ ರಾಜಸಂಘಾಶ್ಚ ಭವದ್ಭಾಂ ಅಭಿಪೂಜಿತಃ ||ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ನುಹಿ ! ಸ್ವಮಾಲಯಂ ಗಮಿಷ್ಯಾಮಿ | ಶ್ರಾದ್ಧಕರ್ಮಾಣಿ ಸರ್ವಾಣಿ ವಿಧಸ್ಯಾಂ | ಭದ್ರಂ ತೇ | ಇತಿ ಅಬ್ರವೀತ್ ಚ ||

"Oh Rulers of Mithila! You innumerable qualities. The legions of Rishis and the Kings have been worshipped by you. May all good happen to you. I will go to my palace. I will perform all necessary rituals. May you be blessed."

ತಮಾಪೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ ನರಪತಿಂ ರಾಜಾ ದಶರಥಸ್ತದಾ |
ಮುನೀಂದ್ರೌ ತೌ ಪುರಸ್ಕೃತ್ಯ ಜಗಾಮಾಶು ಮಹಯಶಾಃ ||

ಸ|| ತದಾ ರಾಜಾ ದಶರಥಃ ತಂ ನರಪತಿಂ ಅಪೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ ಮಹಾಯಶಾಃ ತೌ ಮುನೀಂದ್ರೌ ಪುರಸ್ಕೃತ್ಯ ಜಗಾಮಾಶು ||

Then the king Dasaratha left following the two sages with the permission of the King.

ಸ ಗತ್ವಾ ನಿಲಯಂ ರಾಜಾ ಶ್ರಾದ್ಧಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ವಿಧಾನತಃ |
ಪ್ರಭಾತೇ ಕಾಲ್ಯಮುತ್ಥಾಯ ಚಕ್ರೇ ಗೋದಾನಮುತ್ತಮಮ್ ||
ಗವಾಂ ಶತಸಹಸ್ರಾಣಿ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣೇಭ್ಯೋ ನರಾಧಿಪಃ |
ಏಕೈಕಶೋ ದದೌ ರಾಜಾ ಪುತ್ತ್ರಾನುದ್ದಿಶ್ಯ ಧರ್ಮತಃ ||
ಸುವರ್ಣ ಶೃಂಗಾ ಸ್ಸಂಪನ್ನಾಃ ಸವತ್ಸಾಃ ಕಾಂಸ್ಯದೋಹನಾಃ |
ಗವಾಂ ಶತಸಹಸಾಣಿ ಚತ್ವಾರಿ ಪುರುಷರ್ಷಭ ||
ವಿತ್ತಮನ್ಯಚ್ಚ ಸುಬಹು ದ್ವಿಜೇಭ್ಯೋ ರಘುನಂದನಃ |
ದದೌ ಗೋದಾನಮುದ್ದಿಶ್ಯ ಪುತ್ತ್ರಾಣಾಂ ಪುತ್ತ್ರವತ್ಸಲಃ ||

ಸ|| ಸ ನಿಲಯಂ ಗತ್ವಾ ವಿಧಾನತಃ ಶ್ರಾದ್ಧಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ಪ್ರಭಾತೇ ಕಾಲ್ಯಂ ಉತ್ಥಾಯ ಉತ್ತಮಮ್ ಗೋದಾನಂ ಚಕ್ರೇ||ಏಕೈಕಶೋ ಪುತ್ತ್ರಾನ್ ಉದ್ದಿಶ್ಯ ಧರ್ಮತಃ ಶತಶಹಸ್ರಾಣಿ ಗವಾಂ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣ್ಯೇಭ್ಯೋ ದದೌ || ಸುವರ್ಣಶೃಂಗ ಸಂಪನ್ನಾಃ ಸವತ್ಸಾಃ ಕಾಂಸ್ಯ ದೋಹನಾಃ ಚತ್ವಾರಿ ಶತಸಹಸ್ರಾಣಿ ಗವಾಂ ( ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣ್ಯೇಭ್ಯೋ ದದೌ)||ಪುತ್ರವತ್ಸಲಃ ರಘುನಂದನಃ ಪುತ್ರಾಣಾಮ್ ಗೋದಾನಮುದ್ದಿಸ್ಯ ಅನ್ಯಚ್ಚ ಸುಬಹು ವಿತ್ತಂ ದ್ವಿಜೇಭ್ಯೋ ದದೌ ||

Then having gone to his palace, he performed the rituals as they should be done . Then getting up in the morning gave away the best of cows. For each one of his sons he gave away a lakh of cows to the Brahmins as ordained. He gave away four lakh cows which had calfs and were giving plenty of milk , had horns of gold along with brass vessels. With overflowing affection for his sons he gave away cows and also plenty of money.

ಸ ಸುತೈಃ ಕೃತಗೋದಾನೈಃ ವೃತಸ್ತು ನೃಪತಿಸ್ತದಾ |
ಲೋಕಪಾಲೈರಿವಾಭಾತಿ ವೃತಃ ಸೌಮ್ಯಃ ಪ್ರಜಾಪತಿಃ ||

ಸ|| ಸ ನೃಪತಿಃ ತದಾ ಕೃತ ಗೋದಾನೈಃ ಲೋಕಪಾಲೈಃ ವೃತಃ ವೃತಸ್ತು ಸೌಮ್ಯಃ ಪ್ರಜಾಪತಿಃ ಇವ ಭಾತಿ ||

The king surrounded by his sone , having given away cows looked like the happy Prajapati surrounded by the rulers of various worlds

ಇತ್ಯಾರ್ಷೇ ಶ್ರೀಮದ್ರಾಮಾಯಣೇ ವಾಲ್ಮೀಕೀಯೇ ಆದಿಕಾವ್ಯೇ ಬಾಲಕಾಂಡೇ ದ್ವಿಸಪ್ತತಿತಮಸ್ಸರ್ಗಃ ||
